The Congolese Urban Refugee Community (CURC) is committed to improving the social, economic, and overall well-being of Congolese refugees living in urban settings. Through structured and community-driven interventions, CURC addresses the most pressing challenges faced by refugees while promoting self-reliance, dignity, and sustainable integration. The following are the main programs through which CURC delivers support and creates lasting impact within the community.
Livelihoods and Economic Empowerment Program
Goal: To strengthen the self-reliance and economic stability of refugee families.
Key Activities:
• Vocational and entrepreneurship training (tailoring, mechanics, catering, ICT, etc.)
• Business start-up support and small grants.
• Financial literacy and savings groups (VSLA).
• Linkages to job markets and cooperative formation.
• Promotion of climate-smart and sustainable livelihood practices.
Education and Youth Empowerment Program
TGoal: To enhance access to quality education and skills development for children and youth.
Key Activities:
• Education support (school fees, materials, and mentorship).
• Youth leadership and innovation clubs.
• Scholarships and partnerships with educational institutions.
• Life skills, digital literacy, and vocational training.
• Sports, arts, and cultural exchange activities.
Women and Gender Empowerment Program
Goal: To promote gender equality and empower women socially and economically.
